Rhododendron ‘Arnoldiana’ • Azalea

Rhododendron•  Rhododendron / Azalea •  シャクナゲ / ツツジ  • 石楠花 / 躑躅 • shakunage / tsutsuji

All 35 of them sitting in the top of rock wall in the north of the garden are blooming now; there are several more azaleas of this type, scattered around the Garden.  Strangely, i cannot find much info on the internet for this particular azalea, except for links to the last year’s bloom blog and our Plant List PDF on the city’s page; but it seems to be hybrid, and probably coming in different colors, as I saw references “Rhododendron ‘Arnoldiana Lavender’ Azalea 15″ 6corolla violet”.  Ours is corolla carmine-pink – rather small flower, covering the bush very densely.
